We’re excited to share the details of an upcoming ODCAN workshop on a topic many of you have raised: how to use AI responsibly in our work.
AI raises urgent questions for our sector around data integrity, bias, responsible prompting, socioecological impacts, and security. For transparency and accountability organizations, critical engagement with these tools is as essential as the work itself.
Based on a survey of organizations in our network, this session addresses the real questions and concerns your teams are already grappling with.
Save the date, and bring your questions.
What to expect
This is a participatory online workshop (~1.5 hours), open to any nonprofit or mission-driven organization working on corporate transparency, accountability, or related social goods. It will be guided by Fátima Avila Acosta, PhD candidate at the Berlin Graduate School of Social Sciences (Humboldt University), who will offer a critical introduction to AI, addressing common misconceptions and the relationship between AI, human labor, and societal impacts. She’ll raise key questions like: Who designs AI? How is it trained? How is it sustained?
We’ll close with a group discussion on responsible use and good practices. This session isn’t about addressing individual NGOs’ specific needs, it’s about building shared understanding and challenging assumptions together, as a network.
You’ll come away with:
A general introduction to AI, generative AI, and large language models
A clearer sense of their uses and limitations, plus basic considerations for responsible use
A shared framework for thinking through AI’s impacts and possible uses
A chance to share your own questions and experiences, and help shape future workshops
